jo Valdés
jo Valdés grew up against a 90’s backsplash and came of age during the turn of the millennia in New York City.
A multi-hyphenate, they’re always doing the most, to say the least. They’re a queer, nonbinary, Afrolatinx writer, sexpert, intimacy coordinator, cultural worker, foodie, and sometimes DJ. They have invested a lot of time figuring out how to make spaces safer and more fun. They have an absolute obsession with kink, BDSM, leather, etcetera, etcetera.
As an intimacy coordinator for tv, film and theatre, they have spent the past few years working on many an indie project as well as supporting student productions at NYU and Columbia; they have also worked with cultural spaces such as La Mama and The Mercury Store, the latter being where they recently collaborated with writer, showrunner and director, Joey Soloway, behind the award winning show, Transparent. They’ve recently been published in Condé Nast’s Them and Our Time Press. Right now, they are working on a pilot about the queer underground in NYC as well as a nerdy book about kink and the brain.
jo is currently based in Flatbush, Brooklyn. They were born and bred in the Boogie Down Bronx so they rep the Yankees really hard even though they don’t know shit about baseball.
