Selwa Abd

Selwa Abd is a Moroccan-born interdisciplinary artist and composer based in New York City, working under the alias Bergsonist. Her multidisciplinary practice critically examines the evolving relationship between technology, identity, and virtual realities, drawing from the complexities of post-colonial urban environments. Through electroacoustic performances, she crafts intuitive terrains for exploration, informed by minimalism, musique concrète and experimental traditions. Frequently incorporating video art into her live sets, she builds immersive, speculative worlds shaped by contemporary socio-political landscapes. She is the recipient of the Roulette 2025 NYSCA Commission and the NYFA x Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment Women’s Fund Grant (2024). Her latest albums, Maghreb and Ode To Life, were featured on NPR’s Best Albums of 2024 and 2025. Beyond her solo practice, she has been a resident DJ at NTS Radio since 2018 and is the founder of Pick Up The Flow, a community resource for artists.
