ZAVÉ martohardjono
zavé martohardjono is a queer and trans artist from Indonesia, born in Canada, who grew up and lives on unceded Munsee Lenape and Canarsie land now known as NYC. Dance, ritual, and liberation are primary languages across their performance, theater, film, and installation works. Their works engage decolonized memory, propose queer mythologies, and tap into ecological relationality to envision more just futures. They are a 2022 Bessie/New York Dance and Performance Award nominee for Outstanding Performer. Their work has shown at the 92Y, Aljira Center for Contemporary Art, Asian Arts Initiative, Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, El Museo del Barrio, Issue Project Room, The Kennedy Center, Storm King Art Center, Winslow Garage, and in Amsterdam, Berlin, Glasgow, Jakarta, Montréal, Skopje, and Zurich.
